The ragged pieces of ideas and thoughts of my attempt to live a life as a contemporary monastic in the urban city of Singapore..

Coffee, Mahler and minor addictions

Coffee has been something that never worked for me but lately not only has it worked for me but it is ESSENTIAL to kick start my day. I'm dependent on coffee. The sad thing is that I'm dependent on cheap coffee, which really mean I have easy access to them and it doesn't appear an easy addiction to kick.

Then again, I thought at one time I was absolutely addicted to the music of Gustav Mahler, since the day I listened to his 5th Symphony, but it was never to be the case because something different came along and it watered down that addiction. I'm now also listening to J.S.Bach, Brahms and a whole lot of other music, but they never became a permanent addiction because I discover new sounds every time .... I just have to not stop but keep looking

Life is discovered like a journey.. a life long journey... Maybe if I don't stop but keep moving, keep seeking and finding, I don't need to suffer from most minor addictions including the need of coffee in the morning.
