The ragged pieces of ideas and thoughts of my attempt to live a life as a contemporary monastic in the urban city of Singapore..

Tsunami

"Tsunami" by Rags - Acrylic on Stretched Canvas Posted by Hello

This is a painting I did right after the Tsunami disaster on Dec 26 2004. We were challenged to think about the fragility of life and how it is a gift and that we should make full use of it (when we still possess it)

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress" - Paslm 46:1-3, 7

My Christmas Thoughts

Christmas is around the corner. So close yet I cannot anticipate what's around it ? I have this sense of wonder. What will happen ? What will I see ? Preparation for our Christmas Star Musical is almost over. The team will be doing decoration tonight and tomorrow night we'll have our Christmas service. Work has been put into the programme (& thank God for the wonderful team effort) now I wonder what it'll bring ?

This morning, I had my 3 kids around me at the breakfast table. I cannot remember what we were talking about or if its anything meaningful. But I do remember that moment with them when I felt how important it is for children to feel belong and to feel loved. I shared my steam bun & drink with them before I went off to work thinking...

At work, I thought of what I want for Christmas this year? I decided that nothing will be better than to make all children who come across my path to feel belong. Not that I think our Christmas programme will do that, because if so, then after Christmas, the children will feel betrayed because the programme is not going to be with them then. It is for our teachers and volunteers to give a personal acceptance to them. Spot those who are in need and give freely. It's the best thing we can do this Christmas.

Our best preparation for Christmas is now to pray! However busy we are, we should dedicate some time to pray. Pray that new friends will come and every single one who comes be touched by the love that only God can give through us. You and me.

Let's have the best Christmas ever.

My First Blog

I've just created my new Blog. As this is electronic, I wonder how much I'll buy into the idea of bringing my journals onto the web. I'll play around with this until there's a resolution which more often than not comes with patience and time. See ya soon
